My first day in Minnesota! Tasting the local fish, visiting the Largest mall in the US, and the Port of Excelsior.
I spent ten days in Minnesota (and a couple of hours here & there in Wisconsin!). I had a lot of fun exploring the different areas!
I visited the awesome zoo, hiked the Minnehaha Park with the gorgeous fall, and ate fresh seafood.
Day 3: Welcome to Wisconsin!! A day full of fun as I hiked Taylor Falls, tried a PO' BOY, and observed the Stillwater Lift Bridge in action.
Day 4 in Minnesota, we're starting by doing something that has been on my bucket list for so long...ziplining!!!
I came face to face with the national emblem, the bald eagle. The awesome Niagara Cave was scheduled for that day, and it was the lowest point I reached in Minnesota, right at the Iowa border.
We continued our Minnesota explorations by driving up to the North Shore and got our first sight of Lake Superior. We visited the USS William A Irvin Museum, experienced a cargo passing through the Lift Bridge in Duluth, and got some delicious dessert at Betty's Pies.
I walked in the footsteps of my ancestors in Grand Marais and dipped my feet into Lake Superior. I enjoyed chamomile tea at Caribou Cafe and then toured the Split Rock Lighthouse. In the afternoon, I hiked at Tettegouche State Park, admiring beautiful waterfalls. I ended the day with ice cream while watching a 1,000-foot ship enter the port.
I visited Grand Portage, Highway 61, Black Beach, and the Susie Islands Overlook. We explored the tallest waterfall in Minnesota and the highest peak along the North Shore, enjoying breathtaking views along the way. We also indulged in some delicious food!
I kayaked on the greatest freshwater lake in the entire world! Big Manitou Falls in Wisconsin and Gooseberry Falls in MN were gorgeous! As it rained quite a lot, the falls were impressive. I finally got some Reuben sandwich, which I've been craving for months! We ended the day by walking around Downtown Duluth while eating a delicious ice cream.
All good things come to an end. Today is my last day in Minnesota. I'm very sad, but I'm leaving with fantastic memories! Especially as a black bear decided to come say hi from the side of the road right after I visited the Wolf & Bear Centers in Ely.
I came back to Minnesota later in 2024!
Seeing the state in a different season was interesting, especially since it was much colder!
I got to spend Thanksgiving in the USA for the first time!
